[10/09] NSF CAREER Award: Qin's NSF CAREER proposal was selected for funding. This five-year award will allow Qin and his research group to develop novel architectures for parallel disk systems where significant multicore processing power and memory are integrated into parallel disk drives.

[08/09] Double Congratulations to Kiranmai Bellam! She successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation in April, 2009. In addition, Kiranmai accepted a tenure-track faculty position at Prairie View A&M University. To read more about her dissertation research.

[06/09] NSF Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Improvement (CCLI) Award, 2009-2012. Our NSF CCLI proposal was selected for funding (PI: Xiao Qin, co-PIs: Kai Chang, John A. “Drew” Hamilton, Jr., and Wei-Shinn Ku). The project creates a novel middleware-based approach to teaching undergraduate students how to develop large-scale secure software.

[02/09] Our paper titled "Static Security Optimization for Real Time Systems" was accepted by IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. (with M. Lin, L. Xu, L.T. Yang, N.-G. Zheng, Z.-H. Wu, and M.-K Qiu).

[01/09] NSF REU Site Award, 2009-2012. Our NSF REU-Site proposal was recommended for funding (PI: Saad Biaz, co-PIs: Wei-Shinn Ku and Xiao Qin). This NSF grant will make it possible to involve undergraduates to investigate, design, implement, and/or evaluate solutions to many challenging issues in the arena of pervasive and mobile computing.

[10/08] NSF Federal Cyber Service: Scholarship for Service (SFS) Award, 2008-2010. Our NSF SFS proposal was selected for funding (PI: John A. “Drew” Hamilton, Jr., co-PIs: Kai Chang, Xiao Qin, and Wei-Shinn Ku). This grant allows us to improve the skills of information assurance (IA) faculty through professional development and to develop a multi-disciplinary information assurance educational program.

[09/08] NSF Cyber Trust Award, 2008-2011. Our NSF CyberTrust proposal was selected for funding (PI: Wei-Shinn Ku, co-PIs: John A. “Drew” Hamilton, Jr., Xiao Qin, and Haixun Wang). This grant allows us to develop space encryption and space decryption mechanisms, to design privacy-protected query processing algorithms to answer spatial queries based on encrypted search space, and to develop a sophisticated SPEAR system architecture for supporting real-world applications.

[08/08]Double Congratulations to Mohammed Alghamdi! In addition to receiving the Ph.D. degree in Aug. 2008, Mohammed accepted a tenure-track faculty position at Albaha University, Saudi Arabia.

[08/08] NSF Cyberinfrastructure-TEAM (CI-TEAM) Award, 2008-2011. Our NSF CI-TEAM proposal was selected for funding (PI: John A. “Drew” Hamilton, Jr., co-PIs: Kai Chang, Xiao Qin, and Wei-Shinn Ku). [07/07] We welcome Shu Yin who joined the research group this summer as a doctoral student. Prior to joining us, he was a Master's student at the Wuhan University of Technology, China.
