A drop-in top flange connection was developed and tested at ASEL. Drop-in connections offer an erector-friendly alternative to conventional options such as shear tabs and double angles. Their inherent stability before bolting enhances both erection speed and jobsite safety. Requiring only two bolts per connection, they simplify installation. Despite their simplicity, drop-in connections demonstrate excellent structural performance, providing substantial shear strength along with adequate ductility and torsional stiffness.
