About the Poll

The 2025 Alabama Farm Poll is a statewide survey of agricultural producers, conducted by the Auburn University Rural Partnership Institute, to gain insight into emerging challenges, opportunities, and needs in the agriculture industry. The purpose of this survey is to better understand the challenges and opportunities facing Alabama farmers and their households, and how they are navigating these changes, particularly in markets, weather, and personal circumstances. The survey aims to gain insight into what issues are most significant to farmers across Alabama, and how individual operations and the farm community adapt to changes across the industry. The results of the survey provide critical information to researchers, Extension educators, and decision-makers working to address challenges faced by the Alabama farming community.

The survey asks questions regarding demographics (such as acres and commodities farmed), perspectives on farm management practices, quality of life, and changes surrounding farm and household conditions. The 2025 Alabama Farm Poll was conducted through a mailed survey, using the Dillman survey methodology, involving multiple mailed letters, reminders, and surveys. The survey was mailed to 5,000 randomly selected Alabama agriculture producers, based on United States Department of Agriculture farm records. Data from the survey is collected in an aggregate form, and results will be published in policy briefs, academic journal articles, and Extension bulletins.
