Ram Gupta, Walt and Virginia Woltosz professor in Auburn University’s Department of Chemical Engineering, was recently recognized with the Alabama Academy of Science’s 2013 Gardner Award. Established in honor of scientist Wright Gardner in 1984, the Gardner Award recognizes researchers, educators, clinicians and industrialists who perform outstanding work in the state of Alabama. Gupta was selected by a committee of eminent scholars from premier universities throughout the state. His research interests include biofuels, nanomedicine, nanotechnology and supercritical fluids. He earned a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Texas in 1993. He is a 2008 fellow of the academy.
