Dr. Marie Wooten in the Department of Biological Sciences directs an NIH-funded laboratory that studies the molecular foundations of learning and memory in mice. MRS/MRSI could be used to perform metabolic studies in these mice.
Dr. Chris Goldsmith in the Department of Chemistry is developing chemical sensors to detect oxidative stress in the heart and nervous system. MRS/MRSI could be used to image the sensor. MRI could also be used to measure cardiac remodeling due to oxidative stress in animal models.
Dr. Bruce Gladden in the Department of Kinesiology studies the metabolism of skeletal muscle in canines. Both 1H and 31P MRS could be used to perform skeletal muscle metabolic studies in both canines and humans.
