Greg Artalona, senior in industrial and systems engineering, was named the 2018 outstanding student for the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He hopes to take the skills he honed at Auburn into the manufacturing sector with the goal of becoming a plant manager.
"After being raised in Huntsville, I decided to come to Auburn and pursue a degree in industrial engineering. While there were many great majors to choose from, I wanted to pick a career path as a problem solver, and I believe I picked the perfect major for that. Our department has done a fantastic job of providing students with analytical skills to solve real problems, and that made it a lot more fun to dedicate so many long nights to studying. Being selected for this award is particularly meaningful to me because it was selected by my professors. As students, we dedicate so much of ourselves into getting this degree, and it is great to have professors that will match our level of dedication. I am incredibly thankful for the insight they have shared with me, and I plan on using the skill set I have gained at Auburn to build a career in manufacturing. My ultimate goal is to one day be a plant manager."
