The following is an overview of research being conducted in the department of Mechanical Engineering. Detailed information about individual faculty research and recent publications can be found in the Faculty Directory   and on the personal webpages of the individual faculty members.

The research and facilities in Mechanical Engineering are centered on the four technical areas covered by the department, namely Thermal Sciences , Design and Manufacturing , System Dynamics and Controls , and Mechanics . In addition a fifth category of research in engineering education encompasses these areas.
