Shiqiang (Nick) Zou, assistant professor in civil and environmental engineering (center), holds a reactor used in electrochemical reduction, a process that uses electrical energy to break down per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) while keeping granular activated carbon intact for potential reuse.
