Overview

An undergraduate research assistant position is available in the Computational Fluids Group (CFG) led by Dr. Nek Sharan in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. The student will conduct computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations on supercomputers/clusters to investigate flow-induced vibration of aerodynamic structures. The simulation data will be processed to visualize vortex dynamics and plot the vibration response.

Responsibilities will include planning simulation configurations, running in-house code, visualizing flow data, and generating quantitative plots.

Fundamental knowledge of fluid flows, computer programming, and numerical methods is highly desirable.

Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and Matlab is desired.

Hours Per Week + Pay Rate

  • 10 - 15 hours
  • This position is paid based on the candidate's experience. With no previous experience, the position may include an unpaid probatory period.
