Mechanical Engineering Internship Story: Lockheed Martin

What company did you intern with and where are they located?
Lockheed Martin in Troy, Alabama.
How did you identify and apply for your internship? Are there any specific resources you used to find the opportunity (i.e. Handshake, career fairs, other recruitment events)?
While working for the Recruitment, Outreach, and Scholarship Office, I had the opportunity to speak with the site director of Lockheed Martin at the Troy Site, and he asked for my resume and told me to apply, to which I did and got an interview.
What was the application process like?
It was all online, filling out a lot of paperwork, going through a lot of security Clearance processes, and eventually securing the interview.
Tell us about your internship experience. What types of tasks and projects did you engage in? Was there a particular project or part of the experience you learned the most from?
I worked on a missile program as a Quality Engineer, where I collected data on non-conformance during production, as well as worked on projects that aimed to improve total production and efficiency.
In what ways did this internship help you prepare for your next destination after Auburn?
This help me not only get real world, hands on experience in my dream field of Defense, but allowed for me to network with many employees, putting me in a position for success.
In what ways did your coursework or other experiences at Auburn prepare you for your internships? Are there specific topics or skills you learned from classes that you put into practice on the job?
All of the CAD work, such as SolidWorks, Engineering Drawings, and Manufacturing Technology Lab, all contributed to me being extremely successful.
