Helen Grogan
Software Engineering
What company did you intern with and where are they located?
Manhattan Associates | Atlanta, GA
How did you identify and apply for your internship? Are there any specific resources you used to find the opportunity (i.e. Handshake, career fairs, other recruitment events)?
I found it at the Engineering Career Fair!
What was the application process like?
It required an application submission and a follow-up interview.
Tell us about your internship experience. What types of tasks and projects did you engage in? Was there a particular project or part of the experience you learned the most from?
I primarily developed and executed test cases to validate functionality of program extensions. Going in, I was unfamiliar with many of the supply chain concepts that I needed to succeed in this role. Through this experience, I gained the ability to learn and adapt quickly to fulfill the needed requirements.
In what ways did this internship help you prepare for your next destination after Auburn?
This role refined my testing abilities as well as some other technical skills and really developed my interpersonal soft skills.
In what ways did your coursework or other experiences at Auburn prepare you for your internships? Are there specific topics or skills you learned from classes that you put into practice on the job?
My coursework gave me great foundational skills that I needed in the workplace. My undergraduate research experience gave me practical work experience, some of which resembled work I did during my co-op.
Do you have any advice for other students looking for internships like yours?
Be open to learning and adapting. Find an internship or co-op that interest you as it is a great way to start building your network!
