What company did you intern with and where are they located?
SouthWire in Carrollton, GA at the Building Wire Plant
How did you identify and apply for your co-op? Are there any specific resources you used to find the opportunity (i.e. Handshake, career fairs, other recruitment events)?
I used the SWE resume book to get connected with a recruiter. After, I was able to meet my recruiter at the career fair and build that connection.
What was the application process like?
The application process was smooth. It consisted of 2 interviews: one with my recruiter and one with my manager.
Tell us about your experience. What types of tasks and projects did you engage in? Was there a particular project or part of the experience you learned the most from?
I had the opportunity to create a python model of one of our cooling processes in order to explore quality controls and cost saving measures. I got to utilize the analytical processed and fundamentals learned at Auburn but in a practical setting. SouthWire also invested in my professional development by providing AutoCAD Inventor training and GD&T training.
In what ways did this experience help you prepare for your next destination after Auburn?
This experience helped me solidify the type of engineering I want to do post-grad.
In what ways did your coursework or other experiences at Auburn prepare you for your co-op? Are there specific topics or skills you learned from classes that you put into practice on the job?
Auburn gave me all the skills I needed to succeed in this role. Through rigorous coursework I learned to problem solve and think outside the box for solutions.
