Industry Partnership Award
The Industry Partnership Award recognizes a faculty member who has developed and led exceptional, funded collaborations with industry partners. This award celebrates the vital role of academia-industry partnerships in advancing research, innovation, and technology transfer. The recipient’s work should demonstrate significant contributions to both the academic field and the industry partner, focusing on achieving mutual goals and fostering long-term collaboration. One award may be given annually with a $1,000 stipend.
Eligibility
- Open to full-time tenure and non-tenure track faculty members within the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering (SGCOE) who have led or significantly contributed to successful, funded industry collaborations.
- The collaboration must have resulted in innovative outcomes, such as product development, research breakthroughs, or other impactful industry applications.
- Previous recipients of this award are not eligible.
Criteria
Nominations can be self-nominations. The nomination package is limited to six pages (12-point font and 1-inch margins), including a two-page letter summarizing the faculty member’s leadership and impact in the industry partnership, and up to four pages of other supporting information (e.g., a letter of support from the industry partner), all submitted as a single PDF document. - Innovation and Technology Transfer: Demonstrated innovation resulting from the collaboration, with a focus on transferring technology, research outcomes, or new methodologies to industry.
- Mutual Benefit and Long-Term Effect: The extent to which the collaboration has led to mutual benefits for both the faculty member and the industry partner, along with the potential for long-term benefit to the industry or community.
- Student Involvement and Mentorship: Involvement of graduate and undergraduate students in industry-sponsored research, including internships, co-op programs, and mentorship opportunities.
- Industry Recognition and Sustainability: Recognition of the collaboration by the industry partner, including awards, recognition, or the continuation of the partnership, as well as the sustainability of the research and development efforts.
