News:

We have multiple undergraduate research assistantships, please apply now!

Opportunities for Undergraduates: Auburn University was recently awarded an NSF Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) Site program on Pervasive and Mobile Computing. See Announcement for program details and application instructions.

[02/09] Our paper titled "Static Security Optimization for Real Time Systems" was accepted by IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. (with M. Lin, L. Xu, L.T. Yang, N.-G. Zheng, Z.-H. Wu, and M.-K Qiu).

[01/09] NSF REU Site Award, 2009-2012. Our NSF REU-Site proposal was recommended for funding (PI: Saad Biaz, co-PIs: Wei-Shinn Ku and Xiao Qin). This NSF grant will make it possible to involve undergraduates to investigate, design, implement, and/or evaluate solutions to many challenging issues in the arena of pervasive and mobile computing. [11/08] New release! ioBalanceSim: A Simulation Environment for I/O-Aware Dynamic Load Balancing (Version 0.1 released on 11/25/08) Read more…

[10/08] NSF Federal Cyber Service: Scholarship for Service (SFS) Award, 2008-2010. Our NSF SFS proposal was selected for funding (PI: John A. “Drew” Hamilton, Jr., co-PIs: Kai Chang, Xiao Qin, and Wei-Shinn Ku). This grant allows us to improve the skills of information assurance (IA) faculty through professional development and to develop a multi-disciplinary information assurance educational program.

[09/08] NSF Cyber Trust Award, 2008-2011. Our NSF CyberTrust proposal was selected for funding (PI: Wei-Shinn Ku, co-PIs: John A. “Drew” Hamilton, Jr., Xiao Qin, and Haixun Wang). This grant allows us to develop space encryption and space decryption mechanisms, to design privacy-protected query processing algorithms to answer spatial queries based on encrypted search space, and to develop a sophisticated SPEAR system architecture for supporting real-world applications.

[09/08] Auburn University College of Engineering Climbs in Rankings. Read more...

[08/08]Double Congratulations to Mohammed Alghamdi! In addition to receiving the Ph.D. degree in Aug. 2008, Mohammed accepted a tenure-track faculty position at Albaha University, Saudi Arabia.

[08/08] NSF Cyberinfrastructure-TEAM (CI-TEAM) Award, 2008-2011. Our NSF CI-TEAM proposal was selected for funding (PI: John A. “Drew” Hamilton, Jr., co-PIs: Kai Chang, Xiao Qin, and Wei-Shinn Ku). This grant allows us to support the enhancement of an existing digital forensics curriculum and then eventually installing it within the Veterans Administration system nation-wide.

[08/08] Exploiting Redundancies to Enhance Schedulability in Fault-Tolerant and Real-Time Distributed Systems. W. Luo, X. Qin, F.-M. Yang, L.-P. Pang and A. A. Manzanares, IEEE Transactions on Systems Man & Cybernetics, Part A. Accepted.

[08/08] M. Nijim, A. Manzanares, and X. Qin, "An Adaptive Energy-Conserving Strategy for Parallel Disk Systems," Proc. the 12th IEEE International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real Time Applications, Oct. 2008. [Abstract | PDF]

[07/08]Double Congratulations to Ziliang Zong! He successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation on July 2, 2008. Two months before the defense, Ziliang accepted a tenure-track faculty position at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. To read more about his dissertation research Click Here.
