Council of Engineering Graduate Students (CEGS)

The Council Of Engineering Graduate Students was formed in 2012 as a volunteer student organization with the mission to promote the development and enrichment of the graduate student experience within the college. We are in need of engineering graduate leaders (EGL) who are willing to give a small portion of their time to help in our efforts.cegstitle

In 2013, the efforts of CEGS led to the inaugural Graduate Engineering Research Showcase (GERS) where each year over 150 students present their research with more than 20 cash awards. The purpose of the GERS event is to highlight and reward the outstanding work of our graduate students, to promote engineering scholarship, professionalism and interdisciplinary research, and to introduce new graduate students to the culture of our graduate programs.

For those in attendance, the Research Showcase event is always a great experience.  We are continually looking for ways to improve this event. This year, we are inviting representatives from industry to attend.  This will provide greater exposure of our students and their work to industry.  In addition, in the Spring we hold a STEM themed trivia night to promote more social interaction among students in different departments.  There are many other great ideas; however, we need your help to implement them.  We hope that you will consider joining CEGS and helping us move the college forward.
