Sanjeev Baskiyar, associate professor in Auburn University’s Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and former graduate student N. Meghanathan have been recognized for their paper, “A survey of Real-time Operating Systems.”

The paper was placed on the all-time short list of important papers in operating systems. The list is maintained by Abraham Silberchatz, professor of computer science at Yale University and author of the widely adopted textbook "Operating System Concepts."  The list contains papers that cover the 45-year period spanning from 1966 to 2010.

To be considered for the list, papers must contain fundamental breakthroughs in operating system, describe research that lead to new innovation or provide a distillation of previous works, which resulted in better understanding. Papers contained on the list are considered fundamental reading for those interested in core operating systems research publications.
