Dr. Y.Y. Lee
Professor of Chemical Engineering
Education
BS, 1964, Seoul National University
MS, 1969, University of South Carolina
PhD, 1972, Iowa State University
Specialty Areas
Biochemical engineering, biomass conversion technology, enzyme/fermentation
technology, supercritical fluid processing, reaction kinetics and modelling in
biomass processing
Research Summary
Dr. Lee is conducting research in the area of bioprocessing of lignocellulosic
materials for production of fuels and chemicals. These studies include
physica-chemical properties of biomass, bioreactor development, and enzyme and
microbial process technology. He is also working on development of a novel
sulfur-free pulping/delignification process in supercritical fluid and
organosolv.
