Friday Susan took Stevie to Dr. Freeman because Stevie had been throwing up since Tuesday night.  Dr. Freeman hospitalized Stevie citing a high (35,000) white blood count indicating infection but with no associated fever.  He suspected a reaction to the Flagyl (Metronidazole) which had been prescribed to counter the C.Dif  (Clostridium Difficile) bacterium which had caused the severe diarrhea since her return from Shepherd.  (C. Dif is a serious problem usually caused by long term use of antibiotics).

She was put on an IV for fluids and blood tests done.

Taken off Flagyl Friday night, her GI problems abated and on Saturday a bit of her appetite returned.  Signs were good that she would come home Sunday.  Sunday morning found her with a 102.3 fever and chills.  Stool samples showed a continuing problem with C.Dif to which the disease control doctor attributes the fever.

Dr. Freeman and the disease control doctor both believe that she will respond to the current course of treatment with forty-eight hours.
