Difficult night last night.  With cast, feel we have regressed with Stevie’s pain.  Her sleep consists of 30 minutes of rest followed by 30 minutes of trying to get comfortable moving around which is painful.  PCT was soooo sweet and stayed with her much of the night helping to position her cast in bed.

Dr. Moore (orthopedist) said he will remove staples from hip surgery today but has not yet.

At one point today, Stevie said she was scared.  I queried her to find that she was just overwhelmed by the difficulties before her.  I outlined her condition saying that her only broken bone was her hip and that would heal, and that her mind would become less foggy over time.  Stevie was so appreciative and comforted.

During therapy, she walked using a walker from the gym to the nurses’ desk and back (~100ft).  She did put a little weight on her right leg – painfully – and was discouraged and frustrated by how far the walk back was – but did it.

Upon returning to her room, someone had installed a PC for her to use.  Each room is already networked so she has full access to the internet now – though has shown little interest as yet.  I pulled up this site and she has been reading about herself.   Steve had shown her this site on his laptop several times before.  Each time she reads it is like the first with all the frightful reactions you would expect.  Perhaps she will remember a bit of it this time.

Because of her leg pain and difficulties of maneuvering the cast in bed, our nurse is letting me stay the night.  Looks like little sleep for me tonight but I am glad to be able to stay.
