Stevie’s white blood count is again on the rise coupled with a low grade fever has the doctors and us somewhat concerned. Pain continues to loom large in her thoughts – hip surgery is the epitome of pain rivaling nature child birth. For the pain, she has a fentanyl time release skin patch www.marvistavet.com/html/body_fentanyl.html plus perkiset every four hours which have provided some relief.
Physical therapy had Stevie walk with a walker today but the pain was excruciating causing her to push back toward and flop onto the bed. No apparent harm done other than heart palpitations for Susan and the physical therapist.
She has a Velcro cast on her right leg which is the point of a running battle – not unlike the nose tube two weeks past. She purports to understand its purpose (to keep her leg straight preventing hip dislocation) but the aggravation overwhelms logic.
Tuesday I posited the lack of caring in healthcare professionals was a serious failure of the healthcare system. The staff on this floor have conspired to debunk this theory. Both friendly and caring to a person.
Jean, Henry, Spenser and Stacey are headed this way tomorrow (Friday) evening. We can’t wait to see them.
Love, thoughts and prayers!
