Stevie had been given Toradol, a powerful anti-inflammatory by injection to help with the post surgery pain. Toradol is a blood thinner and her surgery incisions began to bleed. Off the Toradol and with two units of blood, bleeding is way down as is her heart rate (better) and blood pressure is up (better). Still in ICU while needing blood but likely back to the floor tomorrow.
The report from the infection control group monitoring Stevie’s staph infection confirmed that all of the cultures taken during surgery were negative. This was excellent news.
Jean, Henry, Stacey and Spenser came up Saturday. While sitting with Stevie on his three legged
walker/stool, Henry had passed out. Stevie saw the whole thing and was as
concerned as the rest of us. He is OK
for now and going to the doctor to check out this worrisome event. I drove Jean, Henry and Stacey back to
Susan and Spenser report that Sunday was a painful, agitating day for Stevie. Able to sleep very little, she continually squirmed for comfort and began emoting to the two of them. Sunday evening Roland (boyfriend), Sam (boy friend) and Nina came. Part way through the visit, Stevie became so agitated that the nurse had to ask them to leave; just too much stimulation and pain for her to handle.
