3/30 Tuesday noon

Yesterday afternoon we moved to Spain Rehab Center (still a part of UAB med ctr) room R354.  She will undergo aggressive physical, speech and occupational therapy as well as teach us how to continue the therapies at home.

This morning she has had her first therapies – mostly assessment today.  She fell asleep often which apparently is common for head injury patients.  (Interestingly they used a drink of cold water to wake her up.)  Of course this frustrated us much more than the therapists since she had earlier gotten pissed because Susan and I would not let her stand up, pushing Susan and me as hard has she could and telling us in no uncertain terms that we should get out of her way.  When the therapist asked her stand up (with help) she fell asleep   AAARRRRRGGGG!

The speech therapists quizzed her with surprising results – to me anyway.  She was unable to recognize pictures but could read with little effort.  She was able to answer many questions easily but others that were simpler she just could not get.  Short term memory is a problem as she could not remember words for even a short time.

We are now back in her room ostensibly eating but in fact sleeping.  Oh well J

It will be a long road but love has made us strong.
