In
1981, Canac was at the forefront of a new era in kitchen
design, becoming the first major North American manufacturer
to adopt the advantages of frameless cabinetry. A
sleek streamlined look and a more efficient use of
space and materials are just two advantages of frameless
cabinetry. All Canac cabinets use this construction,
and the company remains a leader in frameless research,
design and development.
In
1996, Canac became a division of Kohler Co., a world
leader in products for the kitchen and bath, and one
of the oldest and largest privately held companies
in the United States. The company markets its kitchen
and bath products under the brand names of Kohler,
Sterling, Kallista, Ann Sacks Tile and Stone, Robern,
Canac and, in Europe, under the brand names of Jacob
Delafon, Neomediam and Sanijura.
Today,
Canac has over 120 associate companies across Canada,
the United States and Europe, and maintains regional
offices in several major North American cities. Its
300,000-square-foot facility just north of Toronto
in Thornhill, Ontario, houses the manufacturing plant,
head offices and training facilities, as well as design,
research and development facilities.
