What is STLE?

Society of Tribology and Lubrication Engineers

STLE is a technical society established to improve networking and knowledge transfer in the field of lubrication, friction, and wear (tribology). STLE fosters education, networking, camaraderie in the tribology field. The Auburn University student chapter of STLE organizes presentations from industry professionals and researchers, attends STLE conferences, participates in research in the Auburn University Tribology lab, and supplies STLE members with potential internship/co-op and full time job opportunities.

What is Tribology?

Tribology is the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear. Every mechanical system with contacting surfaces involves concepts of tribology. Tribology is a growing field as engineers are understanding the potential gains in system efficiency and longevity through advancement in lubrication and material surfaces.
