Why this certificate?
The Systems Engineering Graduate Certificate program is for individuals seeking to deepen their understanding of both systems and digital engineering, providing foundational knowledge and practical skills in systems engineering principles and methodologies. Key focus areas include systems design, integration and management, with an emphasis on state-of-the-art digital engineering techniques. Upon completion, students will be better prepared for careers or research opportunities in systems engineering and digital engineering. Graduates with systems engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) knowledge, skills, and experience are in high demand across many industries, including engineering, military/defense, health care, manufacturing, finance, and commercial business.
Who is eligible?
Those who hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from an institution of recognized standing are eligible (exceptions may be approved if the student has the background needed to succeed in the graduate engineering courses).
There is no GRE requirement.
What can you expect?
Upon program completion, students should have proficient knowledge in the following:
- Systems engineering concepts, activities, and management across the system lifecycle, including the SE technical processes and technical management processes
- MBSE concepts and trends through the system lifecycle
- Eliciting, developing, writing, analyzing, and managing requirements across the system lifecycle and related requirements to system performance outcomes
- Basic application of MBSE concepts, approaches, and tools through application-based courses
