Engineering students with innovative business ideas can develop their entrepreneurial skills at Auburn's first Techstars-Startup Weekend, April 1-3, at Lowder Hall.

Students are encouraged to sign up in either a tech, business, or design field. Throughout the weekend, participants will form teams and work to validate a new business idea, develop a working prototype or demo, and present to a panel of judges. The event is geared towards brand new ideas and projects and seeing how far you can progress over the course of the weekend.

“Startup Weekend is near and dear to my heart,” said Joshua Sahib, managing director of the Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship. “I was first exposed to the event as a participant, and over the course of a single weekend we made so much progress that we co-founded a software company as an outcome from the event. I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this transformative event to Auburn for the first time.”

Participants will receive a swag bag, meals, and a t-shirt. They’ll also receive $300 in Google Cloud credits and other software and tech tools.

Winning entries will earn trophies, co-working space at the New Venture Accelerator to work on their business ideas, and consultation time with a graphic designer for logo or other design assistance.
