Aerospace engineering student Nathaniel Reed has won a $3,000 Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarship from the American Helicopter Society (AHS).

Reed is conducting undergraduate research in Assistant Professor Vrishank Raghav’s lab to understand the aerodynamics of multi-rotor helicopters operating in harsh landing conditions. That research made him eligible to receive the scholarship.

Ranked as a top Bachelor of Science applicant for the scholarship, Reed is one of 23 students from 13 universities worldwide to receive a VFF scholarship in 2018. The last time an Auburn University student was awarded this scholarship was in 2006.

Reed will receive the scholarship at the AHS International Grand Awards Banquet in Phoenix, Arizona, in May.
