Auburn Engineering Alum Heads ADTRAN

Samuel Ginn College of Engineering alumnus Thomas Stanton becomes chief executive officer of ADTRAN this week following co-founder Mark Smith's retirement Saturday.

Stanton received his bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Auburn in 1989. The senior vice president and general manager of ADTRAN's Carrier Networks (CN) Division, he joined the company in 1995 as vice president of marketing for the CN Division and was promoted to vice president and general manager of the division in 1999.

Before joining ADTRAN, Stanton was vice president of marketing and engineering at Transcrypt International and held several senior management positions at E.F. Johnson Company, a leading provider of two-way radios and communications systems. He also held sales management, business development, and engineering positions with AmeriCom Corporation, a leader in the domestic and international telecommunication services market.

Headquartered in Huntsville, ADTRAN engages in the design, development, manufacture, marketing and service of a range of network access products to communications networks worldwide.
