GE Manager Discusses Research at Indian Center

Gopichand Katragadda, general manager of General Electric's John F. Welch Technology Center in Bangalore, India, recently provided AU faculty and students with an overview of research being conducted at the center — GE's largest outside of the U.S. His talk, sponsored by AU's Laboratory for Innovative Technology and Engineering Education (LITEE), covered current trends in aircraft engines, energy, rail plastics, sensing, and related GE Businesses, and also included a discussion on nondestructive evaluation.

Before joining GE, Katragadda worked with Karta Technologies in San Antonio as vice president of Research and Development. He received his bachelor's degree in electronics engineering from Bangalore University and master's and doctoral degrees from Iowa State University.

"We were honored to have Dr. Katragadda on campus," says Larry Benefield, dean of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University. "In today's global marketplace, it is crucial that faculty and students be exposed to the latest technologies and trends from around the world."

LITTE develops and distributes integrative, interactive and innovative instructional materials that bring real-world issues into classrooms using multimedia information technologies and cross-disciplinary teams.
