Auburn Faculty to Speak at National Management Workshop

Paul SwamidassAuburn University's Paul Swamidass was a speaker at the Academy of Management's national meeting August 6 in Honolulu. Along with Steve Wheelwright of Harvard Business School, Swamidass spoke at the meeting's Professional Development Workshop on Operations Strategy.

"The Academy of Management is the largest and most respected management academy," says Swamidass, "and it is always an honor to serve with Steve Wheelwright, perhaps the best-known and most distinguished academic in my curriculum area."

Swamidass is director of Auburn's Thomas Walter Center for Technology Management, an interdisciplinary organization affiliated with academic units including the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and the College of Business.

With a mission of improving business and engineering student preparation for the industrial world with new curricula, applied research and continuing education initiatives, the Thomas Walter Center fosters programs to help private sector organizations increase their effectiveness through better use and understanding of technology.

The Academy of Management, founded in 1936 as a professional association for scholars dedicated to creating and disseminating knowledge about management and organizations, is the oldest and largest scholarly management association in the world, serving almost 16,000 members from 90 nations.
