Department Hosts Alabama Section ASAE Spring Meeting

The BSEN Department hosted the Spring meeting of the Alabama Section of the ASAE on March 18 ^th and 19 ^th. Biosystems engineers from across Alabama and surrounding states participated in the meeting that included continuing education sessions on biosecurity and bioenergy. One of the highlights of the meeting was a presentation by AU BSEN graduate Danny Holmberg ('80), who now works for the consulting engineering firm of Paul Krebs and Associates. Danny showed the work on which he and other engineers had been involved to improve stormwater flow on the north side of campus and under Jordan Hare Stadium. Yes, that was under Jordan Hare Stadium. In addition to an extensive set of underground detention basins and storm sewers constructed under the location of the new Technology Transportation Center, their design called for the installation of new piping under the west sidelines of the football field to carry this greater flow of stormwater.
