Wireless Innovator to Discuss Seamless Wireless on AU Campus

Vaduvur Bharghavan, an internationally recognized leader in the field of wireless networking and mobile computing, will discuss the deployment of a seamless wireless service on the Auburn University campus at a 3 p.m. seminar in 235 Broun Hall, Wed., Nov. 10.

Bharghavan is chief technology officer and co-founder of Meru Networks, a company that designs and develops wireless LAN systems for large-scale data, voice and real-time applications. The company is currently partnering with the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering to provide ubiquitous wireless access throughout the engineering precinct.

Bharghavan holds master's and doctoral degrees in computer science from the University of California at Berkeley and a bachelor of technology degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras. After graduation, he served as chief technology officer for Equinox Solutions before founding Bytemobile, a leading service provider for mobile communications companies.

His scholastic accomplishments include his tenure as associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is recognized by the National Science Foundation (NSF) which awarded him the coveted NSF young investigator award in 1997.
