Brigadier General Larry Davis To Discuss Iraq

On Thursday, 0ct. 7, Brigadier General Larry Davis will speak of his recent experiences in Iraq as a commander with the Army Corps of Engineers. Davis is currently Commander General and Division Engineer, South Pacific Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He is stationed in Fort Shafter, Hawaii. He received a bachelor's in industrial engineering in 1974 from Auburn University and a master's in industrial engineering in 1982 from Georgia Tech.

Davis's long and distinguished military career includes posts in Washington D.C.; Fort Benning, Ala.; Sydney, Australia; and San Francisco with deployments to Kuwait during Desert Storm and to Somalia during the conflict there.

While in Iraq, he was in charge of all engineering operations for Operation Iraqi Freedom including infrastructure building and rebuilding and captured weapons tracking, storing and destroying. He has received over 21 military decorations including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and the United Nations Medal.

The one-hour seminar, sponsored by the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Dunstan 202.
