Alvin Lim and Xiao Qin have recently been promoted to the rank of professor, effective fall 2015. The promotions recognize both faculty members’ contributions to the university and achievement in their respective fields of expertise.
Lim's research areas include wireless networks; high performance networks; mobile computing and databases; reliable and dynamically reconfigurable distributed systems; complex software development; parallel processing; performance measurements and analysis. He has been a member of the Auburn Engineering faculty since 1997.
Qin's areas of interest include parallel and distributed systems; real-time computing; storage systems; computer security; fault tolerance; and performance evaluation. His current research includes energy-efficient parallel disk systems and reliability models of fault-tolerant storage systems. He has been a member of the Auburn Engineering faculty since 2007.
Jackie Hundley has also been promoted to the rank of senior lecturer. Hundley teaches most of the College of Engineering’s programming service courses, C and MatLab, with the assistance of a team of graduate teaching assistants. Her area of interests include software engineering, software engineering education, CS1/2 curriculum development. She is currently teaching Introduction to Computing for Engineers and Scientists and Network Programming.
