The Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) Department trains students for workplaces of the future, by providing them specialized skills in AI and Cybersecurity as well as a solid foundation in the discipline. The department offers bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering (including an online degree), a Computer Science minor, undergraduate certificates in AI Engineering and Cybersecurity Engineering, MS and graduate certificates in AI Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, and Data Science & Engineering, and MS and PhD degrees in CSSE. Master’s degrees are offered in the hybrid mode, with on-campus and online students completing the same rigorous curricula that prepare them to address technical challenges in business and industry. Our graduates are scientists and engineers with the skills to apply tools of AI and cybersecurity to architect smart and secure software for any domain. They remain in high demand, with spring 2026 graduates reporting salaries in the range of 70K to 140K with an average of 80K. Employers include global giants such as Google, Amazon, and Meta, the nation’s major defense, financial and consulting companies, and regional industry.
