Seminar
The Design of Parallel Memory Systems
This seminar will focus on the need to improve memory performance in computing. Sun will introduce the concept of parallel memory systems, which will utilize parallel data accesses – an awareness that is largely missing from current memory systems.Xian-He Sun
Chair and Distinguished Professor, Department of Computer Science at Illinois Institute of Technology
Sun is chair and distinguished professor of the Department of Computer Science at Illinois Institute of Technology, where he is also director of the Scalable Computing laboratory. He has worked at DoE Ames National Laboratory and NASA Langley Research Center, and was an ASEE fellow at Navy Research Laboratories. Sun is an IEEE fellow and is known for his memory-bounded speedup model, also called Sun-Ni's Law, for scalable computing. His research interests include parallel and distributed processing, high-end computing, memory and I/O systems and performance evaluation.- When:
