This six-hour workshop begins with a review of pavement preservation principles, including distress identification and treatments available. Discussions will center on which treatments are appropriate for different levels of distress with emphasis on using “The Right Treatment for the Right Road and the Right Time”. New AASHTO Construction Guide Specification for Fog Seal, Chip Seal, and Micro Surfacing will be reviewed to show the benefit of implementing the elements from the standardized specifications. The pavement management portions cover concepts to capture pavement conditions on the network level to facilitate making data-driven decisions for agency roadways. Pavement condition survey concepts are discussed for complex, simple, and customizable data collection.
