Workshop Description
This course, accredited by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), was developed by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) in cooperation with the National Safety Council (NSC). The 10.5-hour curriculum is designed to directly address the core safety and health hazards common to the roadway construction industry. This program focuses on highway construction activities that are responsible for the majority of work zone fatalities and serious injuries.
The course material is geared toward roadway zone construction supervisors and experienced workers. The program design focuses on practical approaches to recognizing and controlling OSHA-identified construction hazards, accompanied with "hands-on" activities to reinforce the formal instruction.
OUTCOMES: This OSHA 10-Hour Course provides an overview of 11 key construction work zone-related safety and health topics. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to recognize and take corrective action to address the following issues and hazards:
- Understanding OSHA
- Roadway Work Zones (Temporary Traffic Control)
- Personal Protective Equipment and High Visibility Clothing
- Collisions between workers and vehicle operators
- Night work
- Mechanized Equipment
- Electrical Safety
- Excavations and Trenching
- Confined Space
- Fall Prevention and Protection
- Occupational Health and Enviromental Controls
The training course is available from ARTBA in both English and Spanish.
LENGTH: 1.5 days
Class size is limited to 40 participants. This workshop is offered at NO COST. Registrants are reminded that registration is not complete until payment is made. The registration includes handout materials, the OSHA 10 card, and a certificate of participation. Please note that lunch will be on your own. Participants completing this workshop will receive 1.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), 10.0 Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Instructor: Robinson Vasquez
Robinson Vasquez, LLM, MBA, CIT, STSC, is an accomplished Safety Training Manager and Business Developer with over a decade of experience in the roadway construction industry. Currently serving at the American Road & Transportation Business Association (ARTBA), Robinson has been instrumental in coordinating national safety programs funded by the Departments of Labor and Transportation. His expertise extends to delivering bilingual (English and Spanish) training to over 20,000 workers aross the United States. Robinson's work has significantly impacted the safety and productivity of the construction industry, and he has participated in the creation of several key safety training programs and manuals. His research has also been pivotal in developing safety resources published by OSHA. Robinson holds advanced degrees in Business Administration and Law and is certified in various safety and instructional areas.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that circumstances may arise that could require you to cancel your registration, and we make every effort to accommodate your needs. Due to commitments to our instructors and facilities, the registration fee is not refundable if a registrant withdraws less than five working days before the workshop. You may substitute registrants; please notify us in advance if possible. Non-paid, no-show registrants will be invoiced for the full cost of the workshop. ATAP reserves the right to cancel or modify any program offering but will provide registrants with the option of a full refund. Auburn University will not be responsible for expenses incurred by a registrant as the result of a cancelled or rescheduled workshop.
