Research Opportunities for Undergraduate Students

Two National Science Foundation (NSF) funded projects have four research assistantships (RAs) for qualified undergraduate students in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Auburn University. The goal of the projects is to develop reliability-aware energy conservation techniques that will provide significant energy savings while achieving low-cost and high reliability for parallel disks. The research assistantships will start in the Fall 2008 semester and last up to August 2010.

Students interested to apply for the RA positions should have advanced programming skills and experience.

 

REQUIRED qualifications include a solid background in operating systems and computer architecture.

 

DESIRED qualifications include:

- System/network programming and management;

- Interest in storage systems;

- Background in computer systems; and/or

- Interest in experimental computer system research.

 

Qualified undergraduate students majored in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related fields are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates should send a statement of research interests, CV, and a list of relevant undergraduate course work (with grades) to Dr. Xiao Qin at xqin@auburn.edu. The search will continue until the RA positions are filled.
