Space Mission Design Lecture 4 Class Notes What's happening in space? Internal Thermal Control System (ITCS) Transition to Dual Loop: Ground controllers in Houston transitioned the ITCS to dual loop mode in preparation of for Extra-Vehicular Activity (Spacewalk) #11. Prior to the transition, the ITCS was running in single Low Temperature Loop mode to conserve life on the Pump Package Assembly (PPA). HAM Radio: Flight Engineer, Mike Fincke set-up the HAM Radio to talk to Upper St. Clair High School located 12 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mike spoke to an audience of approximately 1400 students and answered a series of questions about living in space. ISS Reboost Complete: Ground controllers in Houston accurately hit their target during reboost of the ISS on August 26th, 2004. The propellant used for reboost was 173 kg and 43kg of Prop was consumed before and after the reboost for necessary maneuvers. Elektron Shut down: The Elektron experienced another shut down on August 26, 2004. The crew reactivated Elektron into 16 amp mode. After start up, Elektron was then moded back to 20 amp mode as it was prior to the shut down.
