About Us |
|
The long-term goal of our group is to develop an economical process for biomass conversion into fuels. Current research projects are focused on biomass gasification, bio-oil production using fast pyrolysis and hydrogen production from biobased materials. Currently, four masters and PhD students are working in various projects related to biomass and biofuels. Gopal and Suchithra joined our group from Fall 2008. Hari joined in Fall 2009 and Chad has joined in Spring 2010. We are in the process of developing our laboratory infrastructure. Our laboratory has a GC/MS, a high pressure mini-bench top reactor, a SRI gas analyzer and a Nova gas analyzer. The team has access to 25 kWe downdraft mobile gasifier, a TGA coupled with FTIR, and an oxygen bomb calorimeter. We have also developed a pyrolysis unit and it is currently running and the yield from the unit is about 50 wt.% at 450 degree Celsius with pine wood. Please feel free to contact Dr. Adhikari if you are interested in working with us. |
