The primary objective of NCHRP Project
17-10(2), “Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires,
and Traffic Signals,” was to enhance the Standard Specifications for Structural
Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires, and Traffic
Signals proposed under NCHRP 17-10(1), which UAB-CEE also performed. This was followed by a project sponsored by
ALDOT to develop simple-to-use design worksheets that could be used to check
sign support designs.
