behavior and physical properties of one and two dimensional flexible structures;
fibers, yarns and fabrics.
PFEN 4500: Fiber Reinforced Materials (3 cr.): Material properties and
manufacturing of textile reinforced materials; weaves and braids preform
structures; analysis, design methodology and applications.
PFEN 4910: Polymer and Fiber Engineering Design I (3 cr.): Initial quarter of
senior design project (fabrics and composites design)
PFEN 4920: Polymer and Fiber Design II (3 cr.): Conclusion of senior design project
(fabrics and composites design)
TE 355: Application of Numerical Methods for Design (3 cr.): Numerical methods
and its applications in the design of textile materials; computer aided design,
statistics, weave design and image acquisition.
ENGR 1110: Introduction to Polymer and Fiber Engineering (3 cr.)
PFEN 7500: Mechanics of Fiber Reinforced Materials (3 cr.): Mechanical analysis of
Textile Reinforced Materials; elastic, inelastic and failure analysis; the
impact of preform geometry on material properties. Special emphasis is given to
design methodology and applications.
PFEN 7620: Advanced Mechanics of Flexible Structures (3 cr.): Advanced study on the
mechanical behavior of flexible structures, based on their geometrical
parameters and constituent material properties.
