US/USSR Foreign Exchange Team


Leading specialist on materials deformation of Department of Energy chosen
scientific exchange team. First scientific exchange in 1978. Exchange meetings
occurred every two years alternating between Russia and the US. Served as
delegation host in 1983 and as Official Delegation Leader of US team in 1993. 

 US/UK Foreign Exchange Team

  Leading specialist on materials deformation of Department of Energy chosen scientific
  exchange team. Served as delegation secretary in 1979. Exchange meetings occurred
  approximately every two years, alternating between the UK and the US.

  US/FRG Foreign Exchange Team

  Leading specialist on materials deformation of Department of Energy chosen scientific
  exchange team. Exchange meetings occurred every two years alternating between
  Germany and the US.

Special Scientific Task Force: FTR Core Lifetimes*

Chosen by the Department of Energy to serve as the National Materials Scientist (one chosen from across the US scientific community) on a national task force convened to assess reactor lifetime.

Alloy Development for Near Term applications Task Group, US Alloy Development for  Irradiation Performance*    

                            

Laboratory representative to a 7 member task group responsible for materials development and fabrication processes for fusion reactors.

US Department of Energy Technical Specialist on Advanced Materials energy

Selected as a technical materials consultant to aid DOE in the evaluation, development and implementation of advanced materials or processes for applications.

John E. Dorn Memorial Fellow

Recipient of this award from the University of California, Berkeley, for outstanding contributions to materials science in creep deformation, 1977

William Spraragen Award

 

Recipient of this award from the American Welding Society for outstanding welding research, 1984.
