Auburn University’s Learning Communities Program is helping freshman students make the transition from high school to college a little easier. The program groups together students who share a common interest in an academic college or topic so that they can take classes together. But participants say the benefits extend far beyond the classroom.

No, this is not a suggestion for a dress code for Auburn faculty. The Victorian Era attire is worn by Jon Armbruster of Biological Sciences, who is dressed as Charles Darwin for events associated with Auburn’s 200th Birthday Commemorative of the founder of the modern biological sciences. Sponsored by the colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Mathematics, the activities also commemorate the 150th publication anniversary of Darwin’s classic "On the Origin of Species."
