Arjun Angral was born in Srinagar, J&K (India). Owing to the nature of his father's job at the Central Bureau of Investigation (India), he moved a lot as a child. Arjun had a rare opportunity of having attended nine schools for his K-12 education. Moving places and changing schools almost every year, taught him to adjust to and blend in new surroundings and make friends easily. Right from his elementary education, he developed a keen interest in performing arts and elocution. At school, Arjun was an active debater and often represented his school(s) at various district and state level science fairs. During his senior year in High-school, after having served on the discipline committee, he was appointed the Vice-Head Prefect of his School.


In 2004, Arjun joined Panjab University-Chandigarh (India) for his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering. During his undergraduate years, he was actively involved in various co-curricular activities in the University. He represented the university at various technical events throughout the country and served in the institution’s program organizing committee. He was always very enthusiastic about community service programs and served as a regular volunteer at Blood Donation Camps.

It was during his time at Panjab University that he developed keen interest in Computational Mechanics and after his graduation in 2008, joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Auburn University for his graduate studies. Currently, he is working as a Graduate Research Assistant with the NSF Center for Advance Vehicle and Extreme Environment Electronics. His research, guided by Dr.Pradeep Lall involves mechanical characterization and life prediction of electronic assemblies in drop and shock.

At Auburn University, Arjun has held various positions of responsibility. He was appointed as the President of the Indian Student Association and also held the office for the Vice President of the International Student Organization representing over 1000 students from around the globe and working as a liaison between the management and the international students. Along with his colleagues, Arjun founded the Auburn University chapter of the Surface Mount Technology Association in 2010. 

Photography and Music are what consume most of his spare time. A gadget savvy, Arjun loves to follow the consumer electronics market and happenings at the CES every year. Arjun also enjoys literary works by Nietzsche, Fitzgerald, Salinger and Wodehouse. An avid photographer, he regularly contributes to the university's creative publication-The Circle and has worked on various graphic design projects for ISA, ISO and NSF-CAVE3.
