NCAT Welcomes Full, Diverse Roster for 2011 Professor Training Course

The 2011 Professor Training Course kicked off at NCAT on June 21. Twenty-six professors from diverse international backgrounds enrolled in this year's course, which is intended to educate civil engineering faculty in asphalt pavement technology. The ultimate goal of the annual course is to increase the pool of qualified pavement engineers and technologists for the future.

NCAT engineers and special guest speakers gave lectures on a variety of topics concerning asphalt pavement mix design, construction and performance, and the NCAT lab staff demonstrated several key performance tests. Students also had the opportunity later in the course to tour the NCAT Pavement Test Track; the East Alabama Paving plant in Opelika; and the ASTEC, Roadtec, and Heatec plants in Chattanooga, Tenn.
