This is a three-day classroom and laboratory course that takes place over two half-days and two full days. The emphasis will be on developing an understanding of the ALDOT Procedure for the Acceptance of Fine and Coarse Aggregates (ALDOT Procedure 259). The test procedures for acceptance of aggregates will be demonstrated, and there will be an opportunity for the students to get hands-on training with the procedures. The following test procedures will be covered: sampling aggregates, materials finer than 200 sieve, unit weight and voids in aggregate, sieve analysis in fine and coarse aggregates, reducing field samples of aggregate to testing size, methods of sampling from a conveyor belt and for sampling and testing of Riprap Stone, drying of soil and aggregate samples for field testing, and method for determining flat and elongated pieces in coarse aggregate.

Fees, Refunds, & Deadline

Registration fee is $450 per student with a written retake fee of $150 per student. The costs for housing, food, and transportation are the responsibility of each student. Pre-payment and registration is required, and must be received no later than 10 days prior to the start date of the course. Cancellations two weeks prior to the start date of the course will result in a complete refund of registration fee. No refunds will be provided for a cancellation after that date.
