The number of 7T MRI installations is expected to increase from 28 to 50-60 in the next few years, and the demand for 7T coils is expected to increase accordingly. In anticipation of this demand and also to leverage existing AU expertise in RF electronics and antenna design, the Coil Design Laboratory has been established under the direction of Dr. Shumin Wang. The Coil Design Laboratory is a fully-functional coil design laboratory to support projects in cognitive neuroscience, cardiovascular MRI, and orthopedic imaging.
