Extracurricular Activities and Research

gear

Students enrolled in the tribology minor have many opportunities outside of the classroom:

  • Guest lectures and seminars from industry experts

  • Periodic tours of local manufacturing plants and facilities

  • The Tribology and Lubrication Sciences Society: Students are encouraged to participate in the student section, as well as attend organization conferences; this is a great opportunity to develop professional networks with industry. The student section is an active participant in the national organizations of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, The Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association and the National Lubricating Grease Institute.

Students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with industry standard test devices and equipment through laboratory sections in the minor courses.  Students will also be encouraged to participate in undergraduate level research.
